Senior Solution Sales Specialist – Data Center

GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND OVERALL OBJECTIVES

We are seeking an exceptional sales / technology leader to serve as a Business Development “consultant” within the EMEA group for Data Center. The role will define
and execute the Go-to-Market (GTM) for Juniper’s Switching, Security and Routing portfolio for the DC.

The solutions sales specialist will build and maintain close relationships with

(i) Juniper account teams

(ii) Juniper partners

(iii) existing and potential customers – with the aim to become a trusted advisor and consultant
– across a number of defined target accounts and opportunities throughout the lifecycle from initial engagement to closure (and ongoing evolution).

The overall objective of the role will focus on delivering a consultative approach; providing thought leadership, deliver commercial and technology innovation, co-ordination of cross-functional resources and drive opportunities from qualification to closure, working in close partnership with Juniper account teams.

The individual will demonstrate commercial leadership and innovation to ensure strict opportunity qualification, value proposition development, to construct with the account team (and partner) a compelling overall commercial framework for the focus opportunities, in order to maximize our chances of success and in order to grow junipers business in the segment.

The expectation is to work closely in conjunction with Juniper finance, professional services and
other internal/external business stakeholders to drive a comprehensive compelling offer.

The individual will also provide technology leadership to ensure a tight alignment between the customer’s target network architecture and Juniper product/solution(s) to maximize our chances of success, working in partnership with the prime technical consultant(s) in the EMEA / global CoE (Center of Excellence) team within GSBT and account teams. The expectation is to work closely in conjunction with various global technology teams and the relevant Business
Units.

The role will consist of the following major functions:

1. Define and execute the GTM strategy for the DC portfolio for the target use cases in the region; including development of generic value proposition(s), region specific positioning and innovative architectures and commercial approaches.

2. Defines and qualifies incremental pipeline opportunities for the target use cases in the region, especially in target accounts. Assists to develop new incremental pipeline through thought leadership activity internally and externally. Working closely with account leadership to set and execute the account strategy.

3. Mainly Focus on priority opportunities for the target use cases from qualification to closure (PO) working closely with the account team and other stakeholders; including building a comprehensive bid strategy, compelling customer value proposition and product/service commercial offer, architectural blueprint and technical differentiators, Customer RoI Model and business value analysis.

4. Builds a program and content to build an effective “community” of stakeholders for the target use cases in region with the objectives to document and replicate success, educate and share best practice in both EMEA and globally.

5. Works closely with account teams, partners and customers to analyse and feedback market requirements and trends, working closely with Juniper product development/BUs; to guide our product strategy, direction and solutions to align with the customer business/network priorities.

6. Drives a program of Enablement for both account teams and partners for the target use cases and solutions in region; covering architectural thought leadership, as well as commercial innovation and best practice.

7. Works with Marketing to drive external visibility of the Juniper solutions – through events and media activity.

KEY ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS AND DEPENDENCIES

– Sales account teams and Leadership: Must develop strong relationships with the account teams and leadership of the sales/GTM organisation in region to understand their business needs/priorities and translate them into effective sales engagements.

  • Customers: Must understand the customer’s business needs and challenges and build relationships with customer CxOs – act as a trusted advisor/consultant. Must also build strong relationships with customer technical community at all levels around architectural leadership.
  • Services: Must work closely with Services (especially PS) to integrate transactional and subscriptional services into the overall customer offer – use PS to provide value add through skills, expertise and knowledge.
  • Business Group Leadership: Must work closely with leaders and stakeholders of the product BUs to understand their strategic direction, business plans and product roadmaps. Must advocate for sales/GTM requirements to be successful in the market.

DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY

– This position will build, influence and drive virtual teams on a cross-functional basis without direct management responsibility.

  • This position will provide guidance and direction (“consultancy”) for both Sales leadership and SEs – but will not have direct management responsibility.

KEY CAPABILITIES, COMPETENCIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS

Skills:

  • Combination of exceptional Sales/Commercial and Technology/Architecture knowledge and experience, including at a leadership level.
  • Exceptional customer facing skills, with ability to communicate at all levels, including CxO executive presence/Gravitas
  • Excellent communicator and public speaker to a variety of audiences both internal and external.
  • Deep knowledge of Datacenter networking technologies – Switching, Security, Network management etc. – of particular importance is experience in virtualized DC’s, trends and technology architecture drivers.
  • Technically capable to define specific product requirements and understand how they will affect customer networks. Must be able to use industry background as the basis for making assessments of the future requirements of Juniper solutions/use cases.
  • Experience in defining and building commercial RoI/TCO models critical.
  • Excellent ability to influence internal and external stakeholders and build consensus – build and drive “virtual” cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written/presentation communication skills are critical.
  • Must be a strong advocate for sales (inbound), while building relationships across business groups.

Abilities:

• Will have a strong background and relevant experience to define and execute the GTM strategy in for the switching/security portfolio for the target use cases in region.

  • In depth understanding of customer’s business and application of Juniper solutions in various

environments and across various customer segments.

  • Must be able to have a credible (technology) interaction with the Head of DC, CTOs etc about the industry, technology, and Juniper products and solutions to a good depth of technology knowledge.
  • Advanced technology understanding of networking technologies (Juniper products an advantage) as well as the architectures and applications/use cases that our products support.
  • Must be able to multitask in a role with little supervision and many demands from many stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate complex technology needs for various non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable with extensive in region travel to visit with customers, partners and account teams

Experience:

• Combination of both Technology and Commercial experience is required.

  • 8+ years in various technical/engineering roles, with commercial exposure
